ProSearch update: launch a new search, edit an old search, or presave the parameters for later
The new feature release allows searching as usual, launching a new search each time you click the “Search” button (now renamed to a “New Search”). Moreover, if there is a need to edit the search parameters later, you can still run all of that as separate new searches - or now you can just edit/overwrite your original search without flooding your History with those multiple versions.
Additionally, you can now prepare the search parameters and save them for later, without actually launching the search. It will be possible to do that later through the History option.
About
ProSearch update:
launch a new search, edit an old search, or presave the parameters for later
Upon logging in to ProSearch for the first time after this update, you'll see a pop-up message that explains the changes. Now at the bottom of the Search options menu, you have two buttons:
- New search - launches the search, and saves it into the History (this is our old “Search” button but slightly renamed)
- Save parameters - the search parameters are instantly saved into the History, but the search is not launched. This can be helpful for cases when you build a complex search query, but suddenly there is a need to to quickly save the progress and go work with the actual search later
Respectively, the History tab also reflects a similar approach. You will now see two options instead of one:
- The “Load” button executes the search (either re-loading the search you already did, or launching your pre-saved parameters for the first time). This way, you get access to your search results, and also as usual, if you go to the “Search parameters” tab, you will see your criteria there, and can adjust or edit them further.
- The “Params” button only inserts the criteria into the Search Options section without actually launching the search:
If there is a need to reload search results, or only search parameters by using the report ID, there are also two options for that now:
Lastly, to allow more flexibility when editing your old searches, at the “Search parameters” tab you will now see 3 options:
- “New search” will be launched and saved as a completely separate search in your History
- “Save and search” will overwrite the initial search (so you get search results that match new parameters, and instead of creating a new item in your History, the current search gets updated)
- “Save parameters” will override the initial search without launching it.
