- Markify releases an alternative approach to results ranking – Distance Sorting
Markify releases an alternative approach to results ranking – Distance Sorting
On demand of our clients, we have now added an additional ranking option, called "Distance sorting".
This new ranking method uses a combination of advanced algorithms, and the result shows a percentage of how much has changed when comparing the search term and the result hit.
This new sorting method does not alter the actual results in the report (which are produced by the original Markify algorithm), it just reranks them according to the number of edits that are applied.
Our statistical measure, shown as "Risk levels", built on more than 1 million actual conflict cases, will continue to be the default one (you can change the default). This ranking shows how often this type of similarity in a result pair will lead to a conflict.
So the difference between the new Distance sorting and the original Risk levels is that the first measures the change, and the second one statistically measures how often this type of change leads to a conflict.
Within the trademark column header in ProSearch, you can now see three sorting options:
Relevance is Markify classical Risk Level approach, and if you click on "Distance", a new column with percentages will be displayed:
If you would like to have the distance column to be always displayed for your searches, you can click the Visibility link and tick the necessary column:
