Search for Unitary Patent information on ORBIT BETA

As you may know, a new kind of European patent is arriving: The Unitary Patent, which will make it possible to get patent protection in, currently, 17 EU States by submitting a single request to the EPO.

The Unified Patent Court (UPC) is an international court set up by participating EU Member States to deal with the infringement and validity of both Unitary Patents and European patents.

Four new status of European patent appear with the unitary patent:

- “Unitary patent: registered”: the brand new kind of European patent

- “European patent: OPT-OUT”: European patent for which the Applicant asks to opt-out from the Unified Patent Court.

- “European patent: not OPTED-OUT”: European patents which have never been opted-out.

- “European patent: withdrawn only”: European patents which have been opted-out and then the applicant withdrew the opt-out.

It becomes necessary to detect which European patents have which status.

To make this detection easy, we added a new field in the new advanced search form: “UNIFIED PATENT COURT”
