- Broaden your search results by adding members of extended families
Broaden your search results by adding members of extended families
Orbit Intelligence groups patents into so-called "strict enriched families". The goal of this family construction is to have “one family = one invention”, and thus avoid noise in the results.
But Orbit Intelligence also offers an extended family view (INPADOC).
The new feature we propose here aims at enriching your search results by adding members from extended families.
The principle
Let's take a strict enriched family with 4 drug patents.
Displaying these patents with members of their extended family show they are associated with patents of the associated material, for example the vial, the injection system, and the manufacturing processes.
If we group those 14 patents above back into strict enriched families, we obtain four families corresponding to the drug, the vial, the injection system and the manufacturing process.
The feature
To use this feature, from your search results click on "Add extended family members in search results".
After a few seconds your list is enriched with documents close to the initial ones.
It becomes very easy to extend a search to patents that may be similar, but also to include members associated with an extended family, while retaining all the features dedicated to strict enriched families, in particular, filters and analysis.
