- Check digit suggestions
Check digit suggestions
We have improved the update suggestion module. The application number suggestions now include the check digit.
As a reminder, a check digit is a number associated with an alphanumeric code to ensure its validity. The European, German, Chinese, and Brazilian offices use it to check that the application number is correct. The check digit is located at the end of the application number and starts with a dot, e.g: 16813005.2
So, for European, German, Chinese and Brazilian patents, the application number is suggested with the check digit.
Warning: you may get many suggestions on EP, CN, DE and BR patent numbers during the next suggestion updates (next Wednesday). These suggestions will propose you to add the check digit to your application number. We advise you to accept this addition. Indeed, some features like the renewal module require the check digit.
