- About Questel
Eco-designed website
Internet activity accounts for 2% to 4% of the total greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Digital industry has the highest growth of greenhouse gas emissions of all industries as it is projected to double by 2025 to reach 8%
A lot of this energy is wasted on features and bandwidths that people do not actually need. It is paramount that the Internet industry eliminates the waste of energy.
Hence, we have followed a sustainable web design methodology to keep the Questel’s carbon footprint as low as possible. This involves:
To go further and adapt our website to terminal performance we designed a “low energy mode”. This switcher based on the top menu allows the visitors to consult the website even lighter and therefore with an even lower environmental impact.
This mode can also be activated depending on the performance of the terminals (OS version, browser), or if the battery level of the device is too low. It replaces images with lightweight design keeping navigation smooth and user-friendly.
Once activated, this mode remains active throughout the user’s visits to the site.
